Truth

I could see it in that child's eyes. There was no judgement. There were no expectations.  There was this curiosity.
It was as if he were trying to see, what was behind my eyes. It was if he were trying to see, right through, to the very heart of my soul.
He didn't know what was going on in my life. But it was like he knew what was going on in me. It felt like he could see through all the layers, into the depths of me.
Not the me that I thought I was, or the one that others thought I was, but something else.
He looked at me with those eyes of pure joy. It was as if he were trying to figure out if I could see, what he could see.
But he had no agenda and made no assumptions, or presumptions.
He trusted me with his eyes and he trusted me with that tiny, loved-filled heart. He trusted, not in the the thought of who I was, but the truth of who I was.
He had no knowledge yet, or experience of... of how dreams can be crushed, by life's hard knocks.
He knew nothing of these things. The truth of what he could see, was the truth that set me free, because it helped me to remember, the truth of that child in me.
