Reality Lived

It's better to have lived your truth
and have a few less friends,
than to live a lie
and lose your way.

So many times,
I've compromised my truth,
to try and  hold on to a friendship
and I've lost my way.

At first it's easy,
 to compromise your principles,
because it's all about being popular.

But with wisdom you see,
favor fades and slows
and truth stays and grows.

With clear thinking we can see,
it's better to have a few close friends,
who simply and honestly,
love us for who we are,
than have a lot of acquaintances,
who like us for who we've become.
